Dales on Rails
Discover the railway heritage of the Durham Dales with a choice

Itinerary 1 Dales on Rails
Take this route to combine visits to Locomotion, Cockfield Fell, the
Weardale Railway. There's an opportunity for a spot of shopping
and refreshments at the Durham Dales Centre in Stanhope and you will also
see the Stanhope and Tyne Railway and the Waskerley Way.

Roman
Route
Teesdale was a key point on the Roman route across the Pennines south
of Hadrian's Wall. The A66 follows the original Roman Road. This tour
takes in the fort and river crossing at Piercebridge and can be extended
to link up with Hadrian's Wall for history and archaeology enthusiasts
- or combined with retail and refreshment opportunities in villages and
towns along the way.
