The event will be an opportunity for the local community to find out how the projects are progressing and then participate in a heritage workshop. Representatives and members of the public are invited to contact the Partnership to reserve a place and receive further details. The focus for the event will be on Teesdale Heritage, Conservation and Planning, with contributions from a range of speakers to update on policy and practice from national to local level. First, Gavin Scott and Bryan Harris from Durham County Council will highlight developments in county and neighbourhood planning, and changes to conservation areas in Teesdale. Jules Brown from the North of England Civic Trust (NECT) will then outline the processes behind statutory and local listing schemes, and how a pilot project for local listing could benefit the area. The final part of the programme will concentrate on the preliminary findings of the recent Teesdale Heritage Audit which has been seeking views on what heritage activities and resources currently exist, and how they could be supported and extended. Alex Smith and Jules Brown from the NECT will give an interim report on the consultation and responses, and the session will then open for discussion on how these could be taken forward by the Partnership and other groups within the Dale. The final report will be circulated later in the year and will contribute to a long term action plan. If you would like to attend the event, please contact the Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership by 17 May.

Event: Barford Raceway: 2ltr Bangers SPRING OPEN
Date: Sunday 20 May 2012
Location: Barford Raceway
Place: Barford Raceway on the A688 between Staindrop and Barnard Castle
Starts: 1.30 pm
Contact: - Telephone: 01833 638899
Alternative telephone: 07908344421
Web site: www.bardfordraceway.co.uk
Details: 2ltr Bangers SPRING OPEN, Brisca F2 Stockcars, Junior Bangers & Hot Rods English Championship Q/R2

Event: Foraging Day with TCR Rotters
Date: Sunday 20 May 2012
Location: Cotherstone
Place: Cotherstone Mill
Post code: DL12 8QP
Starts: 10.00 am
Finishes: 3.00 pm
Cost: £6 per adult and £1 per accompanied child
Contact: Angela Whiting Telephone: 07785 251906
Email: angelajwhiting@hotmail.co.uk
Details: TCR Rotters are hosting a wild food foraging experience on behalf of Love Food at Cotherstone Mill. Josephine the captain's daughter is in love with Ralph a common sailor, but her father wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, First Lord of the Admiralty. The couple are caught as they elope from the ship and Ralph is locked in the ship's dungeon. Only when certain revelations are made by Buttercup, a dockside vendor, can everyone end up freely marrying their true hearts' loves. This wonderful comic opera gets the complete Illyria treatment, faithfully performed by a reduced cast on a beautiful nautical set, and accompanied by a Musical Director on keyboard. Set in Raby's idyllic Walled Gardens, Illyria are sure to delight and enchant, so bring along a rug, a deckchair and a picnic to enjoy this classic operetta brought to life.

Event: Dales Pony Society: Annual Summer Breed Show
Date: Saturday 04 August 2012
Location: Streatlam Farm
Place: Streatlam Farm, Barnard Castle, DL12 8TZ
Post code: DL12 8TZ
Starts: 9.00 am
Finishes: 4.00 pm
Cost: £4.00 entry fee
Contact: Sue Webster Telephone: 01697 747672
Details: Roughly 120 registered dales ponies shown in hand and under saddle in various age groups

Event: Middleton-in-Teesdale Carnival
Date: Saturday 04 August 2012
Location: Middleton-in-Teesdale
Place: Middleton-in-Teesdale
Starts: 12.45 pm
Cost: Admission to the field £1.00
Contact: Shaun Andrews Telephone: 07771 27698
Email: Shaun.andrews8@btinternet.com
Web site: www.middleton-carnival.org.uk
Details: Procession starts at 12.45pm through the village on to the school playing field.
